FUTARI - Mother and Daughter -
I conducted an experimental trial.
When one talks about the joys, sorrows, and emotions one has experienced, how much of these emotions show up on one's face?
I chose my mother as my subject.
Because she is the closest person to me.
Though she was the closest to me, I hardly knew much about her.
I asked her a few questions and captured her facial expressions while she answered them.
To what extent can a photograph capture?
Can you see the color of the emotions under the skin?
I first noticed that my mother had a mole in the center of her nose.
I learned something new, something that had changed before I knew it.
Photographs are a medium that stops time.
It shows us what we see but don't see.
